The Governments of Alberta and British Columbia have agreed to mutually recognize or otherwise reconcile standards and regulations that operate to restrict or impair labour mobility for Biologists, such that any worker fully certified for an occupation by one Authority shall be recognized as qualified to practice that occupation by the other Authority.
The Alberta Society of Professional Biologists and the College of Applied Biology (British Columbia) (collectively, the Authorities and individually, an Authority) enter into this Labour Mobility Agreement (LMA) in order to comply with the obligations of the New West Partnership Trade Agreement (NWPTA).
Therefore all professional biologists in good standing from Alberta are able to apply for membership in the College through NWPTA and all registered professional biologists from British Columbia are able to apply for membership in ASPB without going through the normal application process.
Professional Biologists from the ASPB must complete the College's online course in Professional Ethics prior to receiving registration with the College. For information on this credentialling requirement please go to Professional Ethics requirement.
There are a number of forms which are required to obtain membership with the College in B.C Please go to Registered Professional Biologist - ASPB Application Form for application information.
If you have any questions please contact the Registrar at [email protected] or phone 250-383-3306.
