Identity Verification and Dues Payments
2023 Annual Registration Dues & Identity verifications can be paid and completed starting October 21, 2022 by logging into your profile
Starting for the 2023 dues cycle registrants will also need to verify their identity with the College of Applied Biologists. Both are done by logging into your profile here: https://portal.cab-bc.org/
Identity Verification
With the implementation of reserved practice, and to protect the public interest, it is in the College’s best interest to be able to verify a registrant’s identity. For example, there could be cases of registrants with the same first and last names. This coincidence could cause confusion. As the College continues to see registration growth, there may be an increase in these cases and the need to verify our registrants’ identification is an important aid in meeting our mandate.
Identification verification of registrants will also aid the College’s compliance programs both with the Professional Governance Act and for our registrants. In fact, the College requires an identity verification step for existing registrants and all new registrants to comply with the Office of the Superintendent of Professional Governance (OSPG)’s registration Standards of Good Regulation.
Providing ID When Resigning and Retiring
Furthermore, the OSPG requires all regulatory bodies under the Professional Governance Act to keep information on registrants for 10 years past the date they resign. This is also an OSPG standard of good regulation requirement. Retired registrants are still regulated and therefore required to meet registration requirements including identity verification. In addition, there is no statute of limitations for a complaint allegation against a registrant; this includes individuals who have resigned and retired. Therefore, for the College to comply and meet its legal requirements, resigning and retiring registrants still need to meet the identification verification requirements.
