Federal government bills C-68, C-69 granted Royal Assent
The 1st Session of the 42nd Parliament of Canada concluded its session today. With its conclusion, Royal Assent was granted to bills C-68, An Act to amend the Fisheries Act and other Acts in consequence, and C-69, An Act to enact the Impact Assessment Act and the Canadian Energy Regulator Act, to amend the Navigation Protection Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.
The ratification of these Acts potentially affects the work of applied biology professionals working in the province of BC, and the College advises members to both review the details of the legislation and learn how their work could potentially change based on enactment of the Acts. More information is available from the respective agencies: the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency and Fisheries and Oceans Canada have posted releases concerning the legislation.
