Scope of Practice Framework Discussion paper released
The College’s Scope of Practice Task Force completed its engagement on the scope of practice for applied biology professionals in June of 2019, its report on those engagements in August 2019 and has drafted a discussion paper regarding the framework of Scope of Practice as it relates to practice rights.
The draft discussion paper introduces a competency-based framework which requires that any work undertaken must not exceed each professional’s level of competency as acquired through education, training and years of experience. The framework is paired with a competency continuum that was developed through consultation with natural resource professionals as part of the 2019 Workshop Series.
We invite all members of the College to review the draft framework discussion paper. The paper will be used in conversations with government and natural resource regulators to establish the College of Applied Biology regulation within the Professional Governance Act and to work towards Right-to-Practice for applied biology professionals.
