Scope of Practice Workshop Report Released
The College’s Scope of Practice Task Force has completed its report on the 2019 workshop series. The report summarizes the consultations that the task force hosted in Vancouver, Kelowna, Prince George, Nanaimo and online via webinar between February and June 2019.
Among the topics that were explored during the consultation period were:
- Defining scope of practice, especially how the individual’s scope may evolve, where its limitations may necessitate input from another professional and guidelines for competency
- Working with other natural resource professionals, including areas of overlap
- The transition to potential right to practice for applied biology professionals
The report incudes participant comments and general ideas gathered from a variety of questions related to the practice of applied biology. Overall, Council is very pleased with the progress made by Scope of Practice Task Force and believes the report will be useful as the process continues.
