College of Applied Biology 2019 Election
NOTE: The nomination deadline is 2:00 pm on Friday January 25, 2019.
Nominations for the 2019 College Council elections are now open. All practicing and retired members (RPBio, RBTech, and ABT) in good standing are eligible to sit on Council.
By participating on Council, you will have the opportunity to become part of the governance team leading the advancement of applied biology at a provincial level, influence regulatory policy, and network with peers from around BC.
All Councillors are volunteers; however, out-of-pocket expenses (eg. travel, accommodation) are covered. Those interested in serving on the Council are required to read and agree to the terms in the Councillors’ Expectations document, which must be signed and submitted along with a completed nomination form (see below).

Nomination forms must emailed before the deadline to be eligible.
Positions to be elected this election year include:
- Vice-President (two year term – 1 to be elected)
- Regional Councillor (two year term – 2 to be elected)
- Councillor at Large (two year term – 1 to be elected)
The two Regional Councillor positions must be ﬁlled by members who reside outside of Greater Victoria, Greater Vancouver, and the Lower Fraser Valley.
Beginning this year, the College is initiating the concept of merit-based election of Councillors, a practice that will be mandatory in 2020 under the Professional Governance Act. For 2019, nominators will be required to provide a statement of how the nominee meets general criteria to serve on a governance body. This statement will be made available for public viewing along with the nominee’s biography.
In 2020, the College will have clear criteria for nominees to Council. These criteria will be developed by the Nominations committee and ratified by the College Council. Any nominees that fail to meet the criteria will be ineligible to stand for election. As with 2019, nominators will continue to provide a public statement regarding the nominee’s merits and candidacy.
Nomination forms require the signature of the nominee and two nominators who are voting members in good standing with the College (good standing means that all required dues and fees have been paid). Nomination forms must be emailed to the College office.
